Virago has a new featured artist; Colleen Stepanian’s photography will be featured on our walls for the month of September. Most of her wonderful photography was taken in Prague and she has three photographs printed on canvas to look like paintings as well as simple black & white photos. Her artwork is for sale and maybe purchased at Virago. Come check out the beautiful artwork before the month is over!!!
Colleen is a photographer from Lansdale, Pa. In May of 2010 she graduated from Antonelli Institute with an Associates Degree in Specialized Technology. Her focus is portraiture and documentary photography. Life has introduced her to family portraits, engagement sessions, children’s portraits, CD covers, posters, events, and her personal fine art work.
In high school she was involved in a traditional black and white film course. Within that year she was awarded First Place in fine art. Continuing her passion for capturing a moment, she attended Antonelli Institute. In the first year she was awarded Third Place in fine art and Honorable Mention in alternative. The second year brought her Second Place in fine art and Third Place in photojournalism.
“Anyone can take a picture, but it takes passion, appreciation, and maybe a little spice and crossed fingers to make a great photograph. Photography is just one medium that allows individuals to create an image of something, someone, someplace, and also reflect themselves. It invites viewers to get a glimpse of how a particular artist views the world. Iconic images need to be created and exposed forever. I create images to challenge people; to encourage them to love; to educate; or to simply make them smile. There is an energy embedded in every photograph. It was there when the image was taken and it will never leave. The magic in a moment is there to experience forever. If not for me, or for you, it is for the love of life.”
