Virago has a new featured artist this month, Jody McGrath’s Irish Fine Art will be on our walls for the month of October. Jody has 9 pieces of his wonderful artwork up at Virago. Make sure you stop by Virago to get a cup of coffee or a wrap and enjoy this interesting, cool, & fantastic art.
My Name Is Jody McGrath I am an Artist originally from The North Of Ireland but have been residing In Pennsylvania for the Last twelve years.
Growing up in the north of Ireland was at times quite difficult and violent and in someways its Ghosts cling to me and my Art.
As a child I was rarely without pencil or paper or a book of some sort and this was to become a stable formula to keep me sane within the confines of the north.
It is hard at times to put pen to paper and describe who you are in such a short intro , which is where my Painting comes in.
I cannot either condense all that i or my art represents and speaks off. That job belongs to you.
The action of painting is as fundamental now as it was being scrawled on cave walls and in some ways more potent then. It can be where both beauty and ugliness share the same space and time.
To me it is away of life , a journey coincidental with life itself.
I hope that my work may give you pause for thought, whatever that may be.
Thank You and get Painting…
Jody
