Virago Baking Company purely inspired

Virago donated a few dozen Gluten-Free “joy” cupcakes Wednesday March 31, 2010 for the Cupcakes and Cocktails event in Philadelphia, Pa.

The organizer of this event was Lauren Shapiro who was recently diagnosed with Celiac Disease. She came up with this fun night of Cupcakes & Cocktails to help raise awareness; to participate it was $5 Cocktail special, $5 Wine special and $5 for suggested donations.

The event was held at APO Bar+Lounge (102 South 13th Street, Philadelphia, PA 19107); all proceeds from the cocktail special were donated to National Foundation for Celiac Awareness. We were very pleased to be part of this event and can’t wait to do it again.

North Penn High School Theater created their own Fall show this year called Once Upon A Time… which was very well done. This unique show called for a unique cake, and that’s where Virago Baking Company came in. We made a chocolate chocolate cake in the shape of the world and then on top we made a vanilla vanilla cake in the shape of a book (all Vegan and Gluten-Free too!)

The play gave us the inspiration for this cake because of it’s diversity in all of the little pieces in the show. Also their whole message behind the play was telling a story and community. The cast, crew, and directors were all very appreciative and enjoyed the cake very much. Again North Penn High School amazed us with their talented students and overall show. We love making cake for their productions! It’s so FUN!

Virago Baking Company made a Vegan chocolate chip cake with chocolate icing for North Penn High School Theater’s performance of William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

The cake was enjoyed by all cast, crew, and directors of this wonderful production. North Penn sure has a very talented group of young adult actors and crew members. We can’t wait till their spring musical Kiss Me Kate, it’s sure to be a success!
